EBRIUS WINE CLUB | Identity & Packaging Design

Ebrius was born out of a very real need: I know absolutely nothing about wine, and googling “what should this wine taste like” was beyond frustrating. So, in the hope of easing the learning process, I created a wine subscription service that not only delivers cost effective and sustainably packaged wines, but also informs the subscriber about the different styles of wine they are consuming.

With this project, I wanted to break away from traditional dark burgundy and black vineyard palette by using overly vibrant, eye catching colors. Keeping the design consistent throughout the branding, the uniform colors and labels use some traditional grids while having touches of rebellion. With labels being slightly askew, I played on the ‘tipsy’ aspect of the product. Because the idea that the packaging is also to be easily manufactured and customized, I embraced the potential laziness that might come with the application of the wine labels and purposefully showed that they are placed in a uniquely angled way. The brand does not take itself too seriously, in an area that is known to be quite uptight on rules and tradition.

Additional Material Design

Collateral material such as stickers, coasters, and informational printouts follow the brand standards and add a dramatic flair to the brand. Because of the contrast of the colors, it was important to balance text and color differences as to not overwhelm the aesthetic.

The informational wine booklet focused on basic information of each wine the customer receives. To help inform the customer without drowning them in terms, I created and used a system of icons and charts to break up the copy.
